Six people have been arrested after reports of shoplifting and assault at Waikato supermarkets on Sunday.
Two women and three teenagers allegedly stole groceries worth more than $500 in the Hamilton suburb of Rototuna about 2.50pm.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ian Foster said police detained the women shortly after on Hukanui Road, where they also found the vehicle with the stolen items.
Some of the teenagers, who were aged between 13 and 16, had been previously trespassed from the store, Foster said. They were being referred to Youth Aid.
The women have been bailed to appear in court at a later date.
Another incident at a Huntly supermarket involved a woman allegedly throwing an energy drink can at staff while trying to steal a cask of wine about 3pm.
Foster said they found and arrested the woman after she fled on foot.
A 20-year-old woman, with warrants for her arrest, is due to appear in the Hamilton District Court on Monday, facing six charges of shoplifting, one charge of assault and one charge of speaking threateningly.
