A Wellington road is set to have six pedestrian crossings in just under 2km.
Around $55 million will be spent on upgrading Thorndon Quay, with the crossings coming as part of that deal, in a move set out by the Wellington City Council.
The upgrades are part of the councils recycling of Let's Get Wellington Moving, which was dissolved earlier this year.
Along a 1.7km stretch that passes Sky Stadium, commuters may have to stop up to six times, with all crossings having signals. Five of the crossings will be raised.
The section of road sits between Mulgrave Street and 87 Hutt Rd, where the Gun City is.
According to traffic data, more than 11,000 commuters pass through the section of road each day - with a large number of buses also heading along the route.
The council budgets about $150,000 for a standard raised platform.

Speaking to The Post earlier in July, Councillor Tony Randle said the move was "simply crazy".
"I can see no reason whatsoever for what they are doing, especially when there is no evidence of any serious pedestrian safety issue."
Councillor Nicola Young shared the view, calling it "madness".
"I was talking with a friend whose husband died from motor neurone disease last year. He had a number of ambulance trips and the bumping was agonising for him - especially on the trip that turned out to be his last. She's convinced the bumping hastened his death."
The cost was of significant concern, councillor Ray Chung said, as it was excessive and unnecessary.
Here's where all the crossings will be:
- Raised crossing at 87 Hutt Road.
- Raised crossing by Hirepool and the SH1 overbridge.
- Raising the existing crossing by Bordeaux Bakery.
- Relocating and raising the existing crossing from the south side of Davis Street to the north side
- Relocating and raising the existing pedestrian platform from Moore Street to further south by Pipitea Marae.
- Upgrading the intersection at Tinakori Road/Hutt Road/Thorndon Quay with traffic signals, including raised pedestrian crossing points between Thorndon Quay, Hutt Road, and Tinakori Road
- The existing pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Mulgrave Street, Thorndon Quay, and the bus interchange at Lambton Quay will be upgraded.
