A 25-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a young man who died following a house fight in Waitara.
Police were called to the scene on Strange Street in Taranaki at 12.46am Tuesday after calls from neighbours, a detective inspector says.
The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition and later died.
A 25-year-old man was earlier arrested at the scene and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He has since been charged with murder.
He will appear in the New Plymouth District Court today.
Police detective inspector Brent Matuku told RNZ the reports of the fight came from neighbours near the home.
Matuku said they would be interested to hear from anyone in the public that can help with their investigation.
