Police say a man attacked an officer and a patrol car after being pulled over for dangerous driving near Dunedin.
They were responding to reports of erratic driving on State Highway 1 near Waikouaiti, shortly before 7am.
Police said the officer was not injured.
The 46-year-old driver was taken to hospital as a precaution and is due to face court next week.
