A truck carrying cattle has crashed near Reefton, on the West Coast.
Police say the truck and trailer unit rolled on the Ikamatua Highway, shortly before 12:30pm.
There were no injuries to humans or cattle.
Waka Kotahi says State Highway 7 between Maimai Road and Reefton remains closed after the crash while the vehicle is recovered.
Police are appealing for the driver of a blue SUV to come forward.
The victim's father was sentenced to home detention as a judge said, "This was clearly vigilante justice."
Two vehicles collided on State Highway One, leaving two people in moderate and serious conditions.
