Police are still searching for clothes as part of their investigation into the death of an 8-year-old in Hamilton.

A 37-year-old man was charged with murder and assault after Zahquiel Taipeti and two adults were attacked in a house just over two weeks ago.

Police had been looking for a white t-shirt and light coloured track pants in relation to their investigation, and a spokesperson said they have not been able to find the items.

"Police extend our appeal to those who may have located the clothing."

Police were limited in the detail they were able to provide due to the matter now being before the courts, the spokesperson said.

Police asked residents of Pine Avenue, Anthony Crescent and Ansford Place to urgently contact them if they have found any white clothing on their property.
