Forestry block fire in west Christchurch contained

A fire which broke out in a forestry block near Oxford, west of Christchurch, has now been contained.

The fire broke out on Thursday morning and was burning across about two hectares.

A number of fire crews remain at the scene, but the property will be handed back to the landowner later this afternoon.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but a fire investigator has been on site.
