Three trampers who set off a personal locator beacon in the lower North Island's Tararua Forest Park have been found by search and rescue teams.
Weather conditions prevented a helicopter from getting to the trio after they activated their beacon shortly after 8pm on Sunday.
Search and Rescue personnel headed into the area soon after midnight and found the trampers at about 6am on Monday.
A police spokesperson said the group were wet and cold but otherwise safe and well.
