Police have confirmed a child died after being struck by a vehicle in a driveway, on New Year's Day.
The collision happened at a home in Gore, about 6:30pm, police said in a statement.
The child died a short time later, in Gore Hospital.
"Our thoughts are with the child's family at this sad time," they said.
"Following considerable work, including with the ESR at the scene, Police investigators are treating the death as not suspicious at this time."
The investigation is still continuing to gather information for the coroner, they said.
On Christmas Day, a child also died after they were struck by a vehicle in a driveway, in Masterton.
