A 36-year-old man has appeared in court on Monday afternoon charged with murder after the woman's body was discovered in an Auckland home.
Police charged a man with murder on Saturday, after the discovery of a woman's body in Avondale.
Officers were called to a property in Holly Street shortly after 1.30am.
At the Auckland District Court today, Judge Ajit Swaran Singh granted the man interim name suppression until he appears at the High Court in Auckland on 29 January.
Judge Singh granted the suppression to allow the accused to inform his parents of the charge.
He remains in police custody.
Earlier, Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Armstrong said a scene examination was held at the property over the weekend.
Police were not seeking anyone else in relation to the woman's death, he said.
