Fire-fighters will return to the scene of this week's blaze near Kuaotunu on the Coromandel Peninsula this morning.
The fire burned an estimated nine hectares of vegetation on steep terrain along Black Jack Road since it broke out on Saturday.
Fire and Emergency's drone crew carried out another round of thermal imaging flights last night, finding 14 new hotspots.
Helicopters would today be targeting those hotspots.
The burning areas were on terrain that was difficult to reach, Fire and Emergency said.
Black Jack Road would be closed all day Wednesday, with access for residents and essential traffic for 15 minutes every hour.
