A missing Australian tourist has been located safe and well in Ohakune.
Waikato Police had been appealing for information on an Australian tourist who has not been in contact with her family since Monday.
Police say the woman, named only as Katherine, is believed to be in the Waitomo or Te Kūiti areas in the King Country. She is 29.
Waikato District Commander Senior Sergeant Leo Belay said Katherine had only been in the country since 12 January but it was out-of-character for her not to be in touch with family.
Belay said police believed Katherine was travelling south in a rented Toyota Estima campervan with the licence plate GKZ656.
He said she was into tramping and hiking.
