A 28-year-old man has appeared in court in Kaitāia accused of murdering 60-year-old Maxwell Connor in Thames earlier this week.
The accused man, who has name suppression, was remanded in custody and is due in the High Court at Hamilton on 4 February.
Connor died in hospital following reports of an altercation at a house on Rolleston Street.
The accused was arrested in the Far North on Wednesday and brought before the court this afternoon.
Police still want to hear from anyone who saw the altercation about 3.40pm Monday.
