A man charged with attempted murder after allegedly hitting a cyclist with his car has appeared in the High Court in Wellington.
The 33-year-old, who has interim name suppression, is charged with attempted murder and failing to stop to ascertain injury.
Police were called to Marine Parade in Paraparaumu about 1.40am on December 28.
The cyclist suffered a broken leg and other injuries.
No plea was entered at today's appearance, and Judge Dale La Hood ordered the man be remanded in custody until April 11, when he is next scheduled to appear in court.
