A woman has been taken to hospital in a critical condition following a serious assault in a Christchurch park.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene shortly after 9am on Wednesday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Karen Simmons said police were seeking information from the public about what happened to the woman at the Richmond Village Green on Stanmore Rd.
A scene examination of the area was underway as police investigated, Simmons said.
Police want to speak to anyone who may have information that will help determine what happened via 105 or online, referencing file number 250205/8067.

A St John spokesperson said one ambulance and one rapid response vehicle were sent to the scene.
"One patient was assessed at the scene and transported to Christchurch Hospital in a critical condition."
