A pedestrian has died after a crash in Northland, south of the Bay of Islands, police say.
The crash between the pedestrian and a vehicle was reported about 11:15am on Waitangi Day, police said in a statement.
It happened on Kaiikanui Road, near Helena Bay, a coastal community about halfway between Paihia and Whangārei.
The pedestrian died at the scene, they said.
Kaiikanui Road was closed after the crash, as emergency services worked at the scene, but was reopened by late afternoon.
Police would be investigating what happened.
