Police are investigating after a man reportedly committed an indecent act towards a child in the Auckland suburb of Epsom on Wednesday.
Auckland City Crime Squad Detective Senior Sergeant Martin Friend said a man parked his van on Gladwin Road at around 3:35pm and began doing the act at a student walking home from school.
Detective Friend said the van started moving in the same direction as the student and was last seen travelling down Lewin Road.
The driver did not leave his vehicle during the incident.
Detective Friend said the driver of the light-coloured older style van was described as a Caucasian male of slim build, with blonde hair down to his neckline.
He was estimated to be aged between 40 and 50.
Police asked anyone in the area with information about the van or its driver to contact them on 105, using the reference number 250212/5501.
People are also being encouraged to report any suspicious activity in the area to police.
