German tourist dies after being hit by car on Wellington's Courtenay Place

A woman from Germany has died in hospital after being hit by a car on Wellington's Courtenay Place on Monday.

The police said the 66-year-old woman was hit by a car as she crossed the street just before 8.30pm.

A police spokesperson said the victim's family had travelled to New Zealand, and police were giving them support and liaising with the German Embassy.

An investigation into the crash and its cause was ongoing, and no one had yet been charged.

Police said they would like to hear from anyone with footage of the incident.
