Police in Auckland are yet to lay charges over a stabbing in the suburb of Mount Eden on Sunday night.
They say a group got off the bus on Dominion Road at about 6.30pm, before getting into an argument.
A second group was driving by when they stopped to intervene.
A fight broke out and one person from the first group pulled a knife, resulting in someone from the same group being stabbed.
The victim was taken to Auckland City Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
Detective Senior Sergeant Martin Friend, of Auckland City CIB, said two men from the second group fled the scene on foot.
"A scene examination has been completed. No charges have been laid at this stage," he said.
"We have received some information from the public but would like any other witnesses to come forward."
Friend said all parties were accounted for, and police were continuing to work through their investigation.
