State Highway 1 near Greta Valley, is blocked following a three-vehicle crash this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the crash between Scargill Valley Road and Motunau Beach Road at around 4.20pm.
One person is reported to have critical injuries.
The road is blocked and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
Meanwhile, a person has died following a crash on Lake Sumner Road in Christchurch Sunday morning, police said.
They were called to the crash about 11.30am, but the victim died at the scene, while another person received serious injuries.
