Plans for a new stadium in Invercargill have been unveiled, following the collapse of its predecessor.
Last September, the roof of the stadium in Invercargill collapsed under heavy snow.
A report found engineering faults and poor workmanship were to blame.
Stadium Southland general manager Nigel Skelt says the design has moved away from being sports specific and is more a multi-purpose building.
He says the $14 million venue will open by March next year.
Mr Skelt says the roof will be much stronger than that of the previous building.
