One of Auckland's oldest pubs - the Birdcage - has been returned to its original site opposite Victoria Park ahead of schedule.
The 125-year-old hotel, also known as the Rob Roy, was moved last year so the construction of the $340 million Victoria Park Tunnel could begin.
A team of 20 construction workers and engineers have spent the past two days manoeuvring the hotel 44 metres back into place, using a series of jacks and runway beams.
It arrived back in place on Wednesday several hours earlier than anticipated.
The Transport Agency says a tenant has not been secured, but it is hoped the building will once again house a bar.
