Dame Lisa Carrington is aiming to better her triple-medal haul from Tokyo at the Paris Olympics, and that campaign begins in earnest on Thursday night as she takes to the water for the women's kayak fours final.

Carrington and her crew - Alicia Hoskin, Olivia Brett and Tara Vaughan - flew through their heat and are the ones to beat in this final, at 11.40pm.

The men's kayak fours team is in the semifinal at 9.50pm, gunning for a spot in the final which is just two hours afterward.

Meanwhile, speed climber Julian David takes on the world record-holder, Sam Watson of the US, in the men's quarterfinal from 10.28pm.
