National MP Chris Finlayson has confirmed he will leave Parliament early next year.
Mr Finlayson has previously signalled he would retire as an MP and return to his legal work.
He was a cabinet minister in the previous government, holding portfolios including Treaty Negotiations, and Arts and Culture.
He was also the Attorney-General.
Mr Finlayson says he's proud to have settled sixty Treaty of Waitangi claims over the nine years National was in power.
He will give his valedictory speech next month, before he leaves Parliament in January.
