Christopher Luxon on the Treaty bill, new veteran's day and trade wars

China and the United States are the two largest export destinations for New Zealand goods. Trump has put import tariffs on China of 125 percent and China has retaliated with levies of 84 percent on US imports.

Luxon has said a trade war is "in nobody's interest" saying it would "slow global growth", "hurt jobs" and "reduce the amount of money we have in our wallets".

Meanwhile, the Treaty Principles Bill was defeated in Parliament on Thursday but Luxon was not there saying his position had already been well articulated.

And on Friday, Veteran's Minister Chris Penk announced the government was expanding the official term "veteran" to cover more ex-soldiers, sailors and aviators, as well as setting up a new national day of tribute
