Earlier this evening Aucklanders had been told to brace for possible high winds and small tornadoes.
The Fire Service had several weather-related call-outs, including a fallen tree blocking a road in Morrinsville and several leaky roofs in west Auckland.
Auckland Council has advised people to tie down or bring in outside equipment and furniture, and to keep pets indoors.
