An incident involving a firearm that forced the partial lockdown of a Levin school this afternoon has been resolved.
Police said, contrary to suggestions on social media, nobody was taken hostage during the stand-off on Liverpool and Balmoral Street.
Investigators were talking with several people as they continued their inquiry.
Meanwhile, the cordon and the restrictions on students at Taitoko School had been lifted.
Staff at the school were earlier asked by police to keep students inside school grounds until the incident was over.
