The All Blacks captain Richie McCaw says their World Cup victory in England was in some ways easier than it was four years ago at home.
The All Blacks are recovering from a night of celebrations with some of them attending the World Rugby awards later this morning in London before the majority of them fly home.
McCaw said this victory is very different from 2011 when they had to cope with numerous injuries and the pressures of trying to end their drought.
"Perhaps didn't get pushed as hard as four years ago but not to say the game was any easier but I think being confident and calm and knowing the guys were still playing the way we wanted to it felt like we had a bit more control than perhaps four years previous. And I think sitting here today, the relief wasn't as huge but the satisfaction is the same I think."
McCaw said the magnitude of their World Cup success was yet to sink in.
He said it would probably take a couple of days before they realised what they had achieved.
"I heard from home a little bit about how much excitement there is back in New Zealand and perhaps that's when it will probably hit how much of an impact you know winning this thing again has had for everyone at home so I'm looking forward to that opportunity you know when we get home on Wednesday."
A parade is likely to be held in Auckland on Wednesday.
