A waterways project in Canterbury will prove sustainable dairying and healthy ecosystems can co-exist, dairy giant Fonterra says.
Living Water is a joint programme between the dairy cooperative and the Department of Conservation aimed at protecting some of the country's key waterways.
The Selwyn te Waihora catchment is one of five around the country included in the programme, which is aimed at restoring waterways through planting and improved dairy practices in heavily farmed areas.
Fonterra said it wants to prove dairying can be sustainable and healthy for the environment.
