Staff at Bowmont Wholesale Meats in Invercargill last week worked overtime to fill an order for 60,000 sausages
The order came from Fonterra, which is celebrating its 10th birthday by putting on sausage sizzles at six events around the country on Labour Day, next Monday.
Bowmont Meats supplies the Fonterra canteen at Edendale and was chosen to supply the sausages for the sizzle.
Operations manager Stephen Flynn says it was the biggest order they've had in about seven years.
He says the six staff in the family-owned businesses began work several hours early each to fill the order, making an average of about 15,000 sausages a day.
He says it was the quality of the Bowmont sausages that saw it chosen to supply the big order.
