Kiwifruit Growers has appointed an employment co-ordinator in the Bay of Plenty to try to keep skilled kiwifruit industry workers in the region as the PSA vine disease spreads.
The position is funded by the Ministry of Social Development.
Marty Robinson will focus on meeting the labour needs of employers by matching those who have lost their jobs as a result of PSA to other job opportunities in the industry.
Mr Robinson has more than 18 years of experience in the industry as an orchardist, orchard manager and in human resources roles.
