Davis Cup semi heats up

Serbia and Canada are level at 1-1 in their Davis Cup tennis semi-final after Milos Raonic beat Janko Tipsarevic to redress the balance following Novak Djokovic's straight-sets win over Vasek Pospisil.

The world number one Djokovic easily beat Vasek Pospisil 6-2 6-0 6-4 in the opening singles rubber, then the towering Raonic hit 34 aces to outgun Tipsarevic in an epic five-setter, winning 5-7 6-3 3-6 6-3 10-8.

The winners will play either holders Czech Republic or Argentina in the final in November - the Czechs are 2-0 up in their semi-final with Argentina in Prague.

World number two Rafael Nadal thrashed Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine 6-0 6-0 6-4 to give Spain a commanding 2-0 lead in their World Group playoff in Madrid.

World number three Andy Murray won but Britain are only level with Croatia at 1-1 in Umag, while Switzerland took a 2-0 lead against Ecuador while Germany also opened up a 2-0 lead against Brazil.
