Clarke takes aim at media after tonne

10:33 am on 3 March 2014

The Australia cricket captain Michael Clarke has taken a verbal swipe at the media after his heroic innings in the third and decisive test against South Africa Cape Town.

Clarke entered the match without a score of substance from his past 11 innings.

The 32-year-old responded with one of the greatest innings of his life to be 161 not out at stumps on day two at Newlands, and mulling an overnight declaration with Australia 494 for 7.

Clarke, still sore after being struck by multiple Morne Morkel bouncers on day one, then took aim at the media when asked if he was relieved to finally have scored some runs.

South Africa are likely to be without their ace strike bowler Dale Steyn for the rest of the match.

He's struggling with a hamstring strain.
