Parker beats Minto in Manukau

The New Zealand heavy weight boxing champion Joseph Parker extended his professional record to nine victories, eight by knockout, after beating American Brian Minto with a seventh round TKO in Manukau.

Parker's power and speed was too much for Minto, the journeyman throwing in the towel after being knocked down twice in the seventh round by big right hand punches from the South Aucklander.

Earlier, New Zealand light-heavywieght Robert Berridge continued his rise with an impressive first-round knockout victory over Brazilian Rogerio Damasco.

It improved the highest ranked New Zealand boxer's record to 24 wins, 20 by knockout, with one loss and one draw.
