National Rugby League back rower Feleti Mateo has been released by the Warriors, two years before his contract with the club was due to end.
Mateo is returning to Sydney to play for the Manly Sea Eagles with the Australian representative Anthony Watmough leaving the club to join the Parramatta Eels.
The 30-year-old Mateo joined the Warriors in 2011 and signed a new three year deal last year, but struggled for playing time under the new coach Andrew McFadden spending time playing for the reserve side throughout the season.
The Warriors' back row stocks are already healthy with the New South Wales representative Ryan Hoffman joining the club next year.
General manager of football Dean Bell says they were happy to allow Mateo's request for a release to allow him to be closer to family in Sydney.
