The Wellington Phoenix football club have hired another Australian defender, signing 21-year-old Dylan Fox from the New South Wales competition on a two-year contract.
The centre back plays for the Bonnyrigg White Eagles and has been training with the Phoenix for the past 10 days.
Phoenix coach Ernie Merrick believes Fox will be a good back-up for veteran defenders Andrew Durante and Ben Sigmund.
"For a 21-year-old, Dylan impressed me as a very mature centre back type of player," Merrick said.
"He is 186 centimetres tall, fast, technically good and knows how to tackle," said Merrick.
"Bonnyrigg coach Brian Brown recommended him to me, and while trialling with us, Dylan improved every day. He demonstrated to me that he would be a very good back up for Dura and Siggy."
"For a big lad he is surprisingly quick and will have no problem adjusting to the demands of the A-League."
Fox's signing comes a couple weeks after Merrick signed former Sydney Olympic defender Troy Danaskos.
