Sir Patrick Hogan's Cambridge Stud produced the top priced lot again at the Karaka National Yearling Sales and ended the leading vendor for the 28th straight year.
The sale topper was a colt by Zabeel out of a Danehill mare which was bought for two-million dollars by the Sydney bloodstock agent James Bester, who said the colt was the best yearling he'd ever seen in the southern hemisphere.
One of the leading New Zealand buyers, David Ellis paid 1.3 million dollars for a three-quarter brother to the former top three year old Darci Brahma.
Turnover for day two of the Premier Sale was up 10 million dollars on last year, with fewer horses sold, and the average price was the second highest in history.
