Tears flowed as the Steel players and team management embraced after the final whistle with the Steel who had trailed through much of the match overturning the Tactix 41-38 three quarter time lead.

The Steel were missing four of their front-line players after the team van they were travelling in rolled after it was hit by another vehicle in Christchurch on Tuesday.

The unbeaten Steel who have already secured hosting rights for the ANZ Premiership grand final had to call in young players into the side at the last minute to cover those who were injured.

The Pulse have also sealed their spot in the premiership finals series, after beating the Northern Stars 57-47 in Porirua last night.

The Pulse led from the first break 15-10 which with the help of Tiana Metuarau and Cathrine Tuivaiti in the circle pushed out to a 30-19 led at half time.

The Stars fought back owing the third quarter 16-12 but it wasn't enough with the Pulse going into the last with a decent gap.
