The Auckland cyclist Dion Smith has narrowly missed out on a stage win in just his first appearance in the Tour de France.
Smith was part of the bunch sprint to the line in the sixth stage which was won by German Marcel Kittel.
Smith was awarded the same time as Kittel.
The Nelson cyclist George Bennett remains the best placed of the New Zealand riders, sitting 25th overall while defending champion Briton Chris Froome retains the tour leader's yellow jersey.
No changes in the G.C standings. Froome, Thomas, Martin & Yates all very much in the mix. #TDF2017 pic.twitter.com/6SCTJcAPcA
