Black Caps arrive in Caribbean

10:05 am on 27 April 2010

The New Zealand cricketers have arrived in the West Indies with their expectations high for the Twenty20 World Cup.

The Black Caps had four players competing in the recent IPL, while the rest haven't played since the series against Australia last month.

New Zealand has had reasonable success in World Cup tournaments including making the semi-finals of the 50-over event in the Caribbean in 2007.

Captain Daniel Vettori says they're there to win and he feels they have a side that can make the most of the local conditions.

New Zealand have warmup matches against Ireland and the West Indies before their opening World Cup game against last year's beaten finalists Sri Lanka in Guyana on Saturday.

New Zealand made the semi-finals of the 2007 tournament, but failed to get past the second round last year.

New Zealand's other pool matches are against South Africa and Scotland.
