The New Zealand IndyCar racing driver Scott Dixon has won the Kansas Speedway 300 after starting second on the grid.
Dixon, who won at Kansas last year, led the final 150 laps of the 200-lap race - the first of the season on an oval and the last before the fabled Indianapolis 500.
It's his Target Ganassi team's fourth straight victory in Kansas, his 23rd career open wheel win, and his 16th on the oval tracks.
Dixon's now second on the IndyCar standings after his first win of the season. He finished just over three seconds ahead of the Scot Dario Franchitti. Brazilian driver Tony Kanaan was third while series leader Will Power could manage only 12th.
Dixon thinks the win was huge ahead of the race IndyCar's named for, and commentators after the race were also picking the Manurewa local as the favourite.
