The Northern Mystics have kept their trans-Tasman netball play-off hopes alive with a 52-49 victory over the Southern Steel in Invercargil.
Mystics goal shoot Catherine Latu shot 28 from 29 to cap off an impressive effort from the northeners who now join the Steel, Melbourne and Adelaide in a tie for 4th place.
Mystics captain Temepara George says each week her side has been making a step up in their play.
The Mystics led 30-23 at half time and while the Steel managed to pressure goal attack Maria Tutaia, Latu took up the slack.... at the other end of the court Joline Henry and Althea Byfield were solid in defence.
Meanwhile across the Tasman a big upset with the West Coast Fever beating defending champions the Melbourne Vixens 56-53... the third loss for the Vixens.
New South Wales remain unbeaten on top of the standings followed by the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic, with the Vixens third.
