New Zealand has won one gold and one silver medal at the 2010 Youth Sailing ISAF World Championships in Turkey.
Thomas Saunders of Tauranga has raced to a win in the largest fleet at the event, the hotly contested 50 boat Laser Radial class.
Saunders started the regatta well, but a poor race in very light winds on the second day of the event saw him slide in the standings to eighth.
But as the regatta continued he fought back to claim the lead on the penultimate day, and went on to claim the overall victory.
New Zealand's Alexandra Maloney and Sam Bullock won silver in the Open 29er skiff class, in which 18 nations were competing.
