The NBA is eliminating about 80 jobs in the United States, the basketball league becoming the first major American sports league to announce layoffs because of the worldwide economic turmoil.
Commissioner David Stern says that's about nine percent of the NBA's American work force.
However Stern says the NBA is continuing to hire staff in other countries and they're still looking to grow internationally.
