Argentina ensured a grandstand finish for the capacity crowd at the Estadio Unico Madre de Ciudades as Boffelli dived over in the corner to win the test with the last move of the series.
Scotland were 28-13 ahead early in the second half but allowed the hosts to recover and grab the win, restoring pride for the southern hemisphere countries after success earlier for Ireland in New Zealand and England in Australia
Argentina and Scotland each scored four tries with Boffelli contributing another 14 points with his boot.
Meanwhile England coach Eddie Jones credited his experienced players for guiding a young squad to a series triumph in Australia, which they clinched with a 21-17 third test victory at Sydney Cricket Ground.
Jones balanced an increasingly youthful backline with an experienced pack as tourists bounced back from losing the first test to beat the Wallabies 2-1 and secure a second straight series triumph in Australia after 2016.
and the Springboks won a decisive third test 30-14 against Wales in Cape Town to secure the series 2-1.
Flyhalf Handre Polland scored 20 points, including the first try, as the world champions outscored the tourists three tries to one.

Win for Kiwi driver
New Zealander Nick Cassidy took his first win in the electric Formula E championship despite crashing and wrecking his car in a rain-soaked and red-flagged race in New York.
The Envision driver started on pole position and finished ahead of Brazilian Lucas di Grassi, for the Venturi team, and Dutch racer and team mate Robin Frijns.
Heavy rain at the Brooklyn circuit left standing water and sent the top three acquaplaning into the wall and suffering heavy damage.
The race was halted with seven and a half minutes remaining on the clock, the final places awarded on a countback to the previous lap.
Venturi's Swiss driver Edoardo Mortara, who was fifth, now leads Mercedes' Stoffel Vandoorne (fourth) by 13 points in the standings.

Samoa win Pacific Cup
Samoa pipped Australia A to the Pacific Nations Cup title after a second-half fightback gave them a 23-20 win over tournament hosts Fiji at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
Replacement hooker Seilala Lam scored two tries following his introduction at the interval as Samoa overturned a 17-3 deficit to notch up a third successive victory.
Samoa needed to win to claim the title.
Earlier two tries from Filipo Daugunu helped Australia A to a 39-22 victory over Tonga.
Another big test for Ferns

The New Zealand Men delivered in all areas to claim their first Cadbury Netball Series since 2019 with a commanding 67-48 victory over the Silver Ferns in Auckland.
Having gotten the better of the Ferns by 16 goals on Thursday, the Men produced a lesson in netball in the opening 30 minutes of play to put the game beyond doubt and claim the series title.
If the Silver Ferns were after the ultimate test in their last outing before boarding the plane to the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, they got it.
The Men used all of their skill with speed, strength, and accuracy to lead from start to finish in a dominant display, although the Silver Ferns will take some positives from an improved second half performance while under the pump.
New Zealand A scored their first win of the series beating the Mixed Invitational side 48-36 in the play-off for third.
Australian wins stage 14
Australian Michael Matthews completed a vintage ride to win the 14th stage of the Tour de France, a hilly trek from Saint Etienne to Mende, as Jonas Vingegaard held off defending champion Tadej Pogacar to retain the yellow jersey.
Matthews went solo from the day's breakaway with 51 kilometres to go and after being caught by a trio of chasers he attacked again on the final ascent, a brutal 3-km effort at 10.2%.
Alberto Bettiol managed to rein him in once more, only for Matthews to come back and go solo again to beat the Italian by 15 seconds.
Thibaut Pinot came home third as the race's French riders continue to fight for their first stage win this year.
Only twice in the history of the Tour de France have French riders failed to win a stage, in 1926 and 1999.
The group of top contenders was lagging far behind and Slovenian Pogacar again attacked in a bid to unsettle Vingegaard on the last climb, only for the Dane to follow easily and cross the line on the defending champion's wheel.
The Dane still leads Pogacar by two minutes 22 seconds overall, with Geraint Thomas in third place, 2:43 off the pace.

Athletes suspended
Kenyan marathon runner Lawrence Cherono and American 400 metres runner Randolph Ross have been provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit, ruling them out of the current World Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
The AIU, which oversees integrity issues in international athletics including doping, said a sample collected from Cherono tested positive for trimetazidine, a substance on the 2022 World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List as a metabolic modulator.
Cherono, the winner of the Boston and Chicago marathons in 2019, provided his sample during an out-of-competition test on May 23 and was informed of the adverse analytical finding when he arrived in Eugene.
The AIU added that Ross, who was part of the United States 4x400 metres relay team which won gold at last year's Tokyo Olympics, was suspended over his conduct during the course of an investigation into a potential whereabouts violation.

Thomas nominated for award
The University of Pennsylvania has nominated transgender swimmer Lia Thomas for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year award.
Thomas shot to fame earlier this year when she became the first transgender NCAA champion in Division I history after winning the women's 500-yard freestyle in March and she had hoped to compete for a place at the Olympics.
But soon after, she became the focus of a raging debate when swimming's world governing body FINA voted last month to restrict the participation of transgender athletes in elite women's competitions.
Thomas competed on Pennsylvania's men's team for three years before transitioning and moving to the women's team, setting multiple programme records.
The NCAA said member schools nominated a total of 577 graduating student-athletes. Each school can recognise up to two female athletes and Thomas had been nominated for swimming and diving in Division I.
The Woman of the Year selection committee will select 10 student-athletes from each of the three NCAA divisions. Of the top 30, the committee will then announce nine finalists -- three from each division.
The winner will be named at the NCAA Convention in January in San Antonio.

Deals done for Chelsea and United
Chelsea have completed the signing of Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli on a four-year contract.
British media reported Chelsea paid a fee in the region of $62 million for Koulibaly, who becomes the London side's second summer signing since the Todd Boehly-led takeover after Raheem Sterling's arrival last week.
Meanwhile Manchester United have reached a deal with Eredivisie champions Ajax Amsterdam to sign Argentine central defender Lisandro Martinez for $87 million.
