There are 30 players making the Super 14 for the first time following the naming of the teams for the five New Zealand professional rugby franchises.
Fully 13 players have been drafted to other franchises, while there are five sets of brothers playing: Jacob and Tamati Ellison, Ben and Owen Franks, Scott and Thomas Waldrom, Adam and George Whitelock, Ali and Jay Williams.
The notable inclusions in the squads include just 17 players from last season's Blues squad are back. The Auckland-based franchise has 11 new players.
The Chiefs have picked up Hawke's Bay hooker Hikawera Elliott, the Taranaki lock Craig Clarke and the Wellington loosie Serge Lilo.
The Hurricanes welcome a couple of players who performed well in the Air New Zealand Cup, Wellington forwards Dane Coles and Api Naikatini and Hawke's Bay forwards Bryn Evans and Karl Lowe.
The Crusaders have a stable look about them with just one draft player. Notbaly they are without Dan Carter, but the concussion-prone fullback Leon MacDonald has been included.
The Highlanders have eight new players and five draft players.
Canterbury and Wellington have 22 players in Super 14 squads, Auckland 19, Otago and Waikato 17 and Southland 10.
