Dame Lisa Carrington has underlined her supremacy by winning Canoe Sprint World Cup gold in the final of the K1 500 in Hungary.

Carrington led from start to finish, holding off her New Zealand rival Aimee Fisher who was closing in fast on the line in a near photo finish.

Fisher won silver in a world class performance ahead of Denmark's Emma Jorgensen who claimed the bronze.

The New Zealand teammates, Carrington and Fisher, were flying the silver fern paddling in lanes alongside one another with Carrington winning in 1min 54.25 sec by a margin of 0.37 sec.

Carrington and Alicia Hoskin will race the final of the K2 500 on Sunday night.

The World Championships are in Germany in August where Carrington will defend her K1 500 title.
