Lulu Sun had a tough start to the Olympics losing her first round singles match to Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk in straight sets.

The 12th seeded Kostyuk won 6-4 6-3 as she was cheered on by a vocal group of Ukrainian supporters on court 8.

Sun was a late addition to the singles draw after another player withdrew on day one.

She had been an alternate and it was only with the withdrawal of the player that Sun got into the first round against Kostyuk.

Meanwhile, Sun and Erin Routliffe's doubles match was delayed - again.

Rain stopped them getting to play Italy's Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini on the first day of the tennis action and their match was called off again on day two.

Sun arrived in Paris following an impressive single's run at Wimbledon.
