Having spent the past few weeks on life support, the Warriors shambolic season has been put out of its misery by a loss to the Eels, in Auckland.

The final nail came as the 16th-placed Eels embarrassed the Warriors 30-20 in Auckland on Friday night, all but ending any hopes of a play off appearance.

With tough games against the Dolphins, Manly, Bulldogs and the Sharks on the horizon, the Warriors needed to use Friday night's game to get their attack clicking against a lesser ranked opponent.

But they conceded an early 12-0 lead, and errors plagued the hosts throughout a frustrating 80 minutes at Go Media Stadium, one which tested even the most ardent of the faithful.

Kick-off was at 8pm on Friday, NZT.
