New Black Caps contracted player Josh Clarkson has been called into the Caribbean Premier League as a replacement.

Clarkson will play for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

The Central Districts allrounder was awarded his first central contract on Tuesday, but he is not part of the test squad that flew out Wednesday for tests against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.

The Patriots have lost Zimbabwe allrounder Sikandar Raza to injury, while Tristan Stubbs is returning to South Africa for national duties.

Clarkson has played 89 T20's so far, scoring 1673 runs at a strike rate of 147.40 and taking 11 wickets at an economy rate of 9.15.

The 27-year-old has featured in three ODIs and six T20I's for the Black Caps since making his international debut in the 1st ODI against Bangladesh in Dunedin in December.

The Patriots are fifth in the six team competition with one win from three games.
